Starlink Kit and Accessories

I purchased a Starlink kit from the Starlink website. The reason I did this is because a few months earlier, I was hit with an ice storm. Well, our whole town was. And we did not have power for over a week. Because of the power outage, the cellular towers were being overrun, and people could not make phone calls or communicate. Everyone was running generators off gas just to heat homes and cook food. So, I picked up one of these kits from Starlink, and I have not been happier! I actually canceled my Xfinity internet service and switched to Starlink, which saved me at least $120 a month in costs!

I can plug it into my generator when a power outage happens, and I have internet again. On top of that, if I move, I take the whole kit with me, and I still have internet! Even better, when you travel, you just take the whole kit with you, and you have your internet. They even have small tiny Starlink kits, dedicated for just travel. So, you want to go on a hike, or go camping, or put one on your RV ya, they have that too!

Right now, Starlink is having a huge promotion. You pay zero dollars, yes $0.00 for a new kit, if you sign up for a 12-month contract for Residential plan in select areas. It also looks like the residential plan is starting at $80. Even if you do not do the contract, you purchase the equipment, so you own it. Which looks like it is $349 to outright purchase the kit and still, $80 a month and you have internet whenever you want, like fast internet too! I say that is a win!

Some websites, and social media sites will have the Starlink kit for sale, but if you read in the description, sometimes the kits are region locked which means it will cost an additional fee to get the service started. This is due to companies buying a huge amount of these kits, to try and resale them. My recommendation, if you want to purchase your kit, buy it brand new from Starlink directly at Starlink, use my referral link above, visit a retail location like Best Buy, Home Depot, and others that will have the Starlink kit. Update: Starlink now offers its customers of Starlink the Starlink Router Mini for $40.00. Router Mini is a lower-performance device that will provide “basic Wi-Fi needs” in smaller spaces, including wireless dead spots within a home. The way it works, is identical to the “Mesh network system” that Eero, Orbi and Velop offer. It works well in most basic residential setups and is a good option for extending coverage. However, in homes where rooms have multiple barriers between them (mirrors, multiple walls, brick or stone walls), you may notice a drop in performance unless you use wired connections.

Down here, I have some general items that have worked well for the Starlink Kit. For instance, a mount, a tripod, longer cable, just little odds and ends.
